We spent last week with my family in good ole' Granite Falls, NC. We went for Vacation Bible School at my dad's church. And we had a blast.
The first couple of days I got to watch a bird's nest right outside of my parents kitchen window. And we were there to see the "first in flight" action! I, of course, had my camera in hand.

We also spent some quality time with my nephews. They are the best almost-15-year-olds I know. I am sure you can't tell it...but my kids adore their older cousins! And you can see why! They are tons of fun.
The kids also got some loving from Nana and PapaBob! And a trip to Chuck-e's! We also went swimming one day. And watched a baseball game another. It was a busy week. Needless to say, it went by FAST!!! But we had a blast!

Worth remembering
These words were spoken to me last night by my 4-year-old out of the blue. I enjoyed his little theory beyond measure, however,
this mama begs to differ!!! I bet you he will be the cutest 81-year-old man ever! Especially if he is as spry as he is now!!

Taking Flight
Our little baby birds took flight today. I was up with the rooster! (well---the baby) And if you know me, I am not a rooster-kind of girl. The later I can sleep the better!!! So when I looked out to a quiet morning, I was excited to see lots of activity going on in our backyard. Mama wrens chasing squirrels, baby wrens peeking out, and I knew it would be an action-packed morning. Since it was still so early...the shots I took didn't come out like I wanted. But, I am going to share anyway.

You can see them peeking out. I wish it would have turned out to be a better picture, but still pretty neat to see.
We also got a visit this week from a falcon. It sat up in a pine tree in our front yard pulling out its feathers. I haven't done my research to figure out what it was actually doing, so I apologize. But, it was raining feathers on us. We enjoyed the visit.

These pictures didn't turn out quite like I wanted either, but I was just clicking away before he left!
Oh, this was a blog about birds, wasn't it? My bad!!!

Baseball Lessons On and Off the Field
My oldest little man is finishing up his last season of t-ball. Next year it is on to coach-pitch! I can tell a huge difference in his knowledge and ability. But despite his improvement...t-ball is still very painful to watch. 5 and 6 year olds can make the game of baseball seem almost impossible! But they are cute as they try to make an out. Or run the bases too fast for the runner in front of them. There are a lot of neat lessons for children to learn on that field. Hopefully, our little man has learned a few things.
As we finish up this t-ball season and go to our last couple of games...I get the unfortunate action of having my wallet gone through!!! At the t-ball field no-less! I thought it was strange as I returned to my car 15- minutes after arriving at the game to see my wallet lying on the ground. I was shocked and a little stupid-feeling. It seemed I had knocked it on the ground as I was getting stuff out of the front seat. But, at first glace everything seemed in order. And the most obvious access to money---my debit card---was untouched. So, I moved on from my accident...unharmed...at least I thought.
24-hours later---as I went to get the cash I knew I had in my wallet---that wasn't there---I realized that there were 2 credit cards missing as well as a gift card and cash!! UGH!!!! And of course, they have already used it. Thanks to me someone had a little shopping spree at Home Depot and I even paid for their gas to get there!! How annoying!
How do people like this sleep at night? How do they look in the mirror each morning? Dishonest people stink! You know! Especially considering that they were ripping off a mother sitting at her child's t-ball game!!!!! The NERVE!!!!!
We are so blessed. And God is so quick to provide for our every need. I am thankful. But, my husband and I struggle to make things work financially. We work hard to be good stewards and to be honest with our money. And it angers me to think that someone just waltzes in and TAKES something that they KNOW isn't theirs. And they proceed to use it. Come on, be like the rest of us...work hard, struggle a little, but mostly give it all to JESUS!! And trust in HIM instead of someone else's credit! He is a lot more dependable than those credit cards!! And He doesn't have a credit limit!!!!!! And besides, He is not affected by this economy at all.
(do forgive me---seems I needed to vent a little!!)

Another Milestone
When my sweet boy was born in November of 2002 I was so excited to see and experience every single milestone with him. And I have enjoyed almost every high light of his life. I just have a hard time grasping how quickly life moves when you have children. Time passes and moves from one milestone to the next without skipping a beat. Last week we celebrated my oldest little man graduating from kindergarten. Strange to think of him as a first grader. And when I think of his first few days away from me in preschool, I am reminded of how much my little man has grown. He is such a big boy now. And is so smart. I get a kick out of him and his quirky little personality. Some of the things he says now are so funny. I reminded him yesterday that back when he was a little younger he wouldn't go anywhere (except church) without a hat on. He laughed and said: "I got over that." I laughed too. There are new things that I think I would love to see him "get over". But when I think back to these 6 quick years we have had together...I just try to focus on my little boy. And savor him just as he is. LITTLE (in his way---since he is in the 95th% for his height) and LEARNING.
Congratulations on this new milestone Nate. Your mama is proud of you and the success you had in kindergarten. I hope and pray for the same every year of your educational career.
